CONEL College is celebrating an astonishing high for successfully placing students into university this year. The UCAS Destinations Report 14/15 just out this week reveals 320 CONEL students have achieved places, including seven in the top elite Russell Group of universities. While higher education institutions (HEIs) in London and the home counties prove to be the most popular choices, some CONEL students have moved far and wide to start out on the degree courses of their dreams.

In the Russell Group, two students started at King’s College London this year to read Computer Science. Two students are now at the University of Birmingham reading Electronic and Electrical Engineering. Three students also won places at the University of Nottingham, Queen Mary University of London and the University of Sheffield to study Finance and Accounting, Engineering and Physics.

In terms of the Guardian University League Tables 2016, many CONEL students are studying at the top 50 universities in the land. Six CONEL students are at Coventry and Kent ranked at 15 and 16 out of 119 HEIs in the UK. Three students are at City University ranked 37th and two are at UAL ranked 44th.
Popular choices for CONEL students in London include Brunel, which offers a year in industry as well as three years study for most programmes. The University of Hertfordshire, Kingston University, London South Bank University and the University of West London are also very popular destinations. Many students progressed to CONEL’s partner institution Middlesex University.

Rosheen Salmon who graduated from CONEL with a Business Level 3 Extended Diploma said: “I’m thrilled to have a place at the University of Kent to study Business and Management with a year in industry.”

CONEL Principal Andy Forbes said of his students’ superb achievements: “Our students have demonstrated they are at the top of their chosen subjects and have progressed to excellent degree courses in some of the best universities in the UK. This really shows that leading Further Education Colleges like CONEL offer a high quality alternative to traditional sixth form study and are ideal for students of all ages wanting to progress into university.”
