CONEL’s annual Higher Education Fair took place last week (7 October) giving students all the information they need before applying to university. Universities from across London and the South East, including King’s College London and the University of Cambridge attended the event, to promote what they have to offer prospective students. The universities also gave taster talks about completing making selections, completing applications and personal statements and student finance.

Choosing whether or not to go to university and then choosing which ones to select on your UCAS form is one of the most hardest many people will have to make. The HE Fair organised by the College's Career's Service, helps students through this demanding process.

The UCAS Destinations Report 14/15 just out last week shows that around 300 CONEL students achieved Higher Education places this year, including seven in the top elite Russell Group of universities.  While higher education institutions (HEIs) in London and the Home Counties proved to be the most popular choices, some CONEL students have moved far and wide to start out on the degree courses of their dreams.

BTEC Engineering Level 3 student Nana Adutwim said: “Until today I didn’t understand the university application process or know much about how the university system works but from speaking to the various experts here I know a lot more about my course options and it’s helped me make decisions on accommodation and student finance.”

Renu Arrowsmith from the College’s Careers Service said: “I am delighted that such a large number of learners expressed an interest in progressing on to a Higher Education course. The ethos of achievement and aspiration that runs through everything here at the College means that our learners are really aiming high. They know that they can go on from our courses to study at any one of the top universities.”
