Twenty Science Students from the College of Haringey, Enfield and North East London participated in a tree planting exercise ran by Organic Lea, at the Enfield centre on Thursday 24 March 2016.
The students created their own growing spaces at CONEL by planting 2 apple trees and 4 rowan trees. The new garden space will result in trees that will be of benefit to potential students for generations to come. The tree planting exercise tied in with one of their units on the subject of Bio-diversity.
The workshop ran by OrganicLea, who believes ‘Every school should be growing food’ help develop food-growing projects. The food-growing project based in North east London, educates young people about sustainable food growing through theoretical and practical workshops to learn about the impact of food on the local community.
One learner commented: “This workshop has taught me how to grow my own fruit and given me ideas in the long-term on how I could save money.”
