The College of Haringey, Enfield and North East London attracted around 50 people this week (Thursday 17 March) who came to find out more about the variety of roles on offer at its Apprenticeships Jobs Fair.
The lucky ten secured their apprenticeship jobs in hairdressing, business administration, construction and accounting.
Employers including Outward, part of the Newlon Group, Haringey Council and the Hanover Group were offering apprenticeships in adult care, business administration and construction respectively.
The College’s Apprenticeships Team was also on hand to offer advice guidance and take CVs for current vacancies. Visitors to the event said that they found the event very helpful and were now even more determined to find an apprenticeship.
The College offers apprenticeships in many disciplines such as Accounting, Business Administration, Adult Care and Clinical Care Support, Construction, Childcare, Hairdressing, Horticulture, Hospitality, IT, Engineering and Creative Media.
Zubeyde Ozsayan started her full-time Accounting Apprenticeship in December 2015, working at Ulus & Co in Edmonton. Zubeyde said: “I’m really happy that I’m an apprentice. It allows me to earn a wage while I gain a recognised qualification and experience."
Director of Employment and Employer Engagement, Jackie Chapman, said: “The fair offered advice and guidance and also promoted 50 vacancies we have available with employers ready and waiting to interview candidates. Apprenticeships are a fantastic way for people to gain experience and skills they need for their chosen profession.”
Apprenticeships are paid jobs in which employees both work and train at the same time. Apprentices usually spend one day a week in College studying for a recognised qualification and four days a week at work, putting theory into practice.
