CONEL’s Supported Learning students showcased their talents last month (Wednesday, 28 June 2017) with dance, music, acting and song. Their end of year show was a celebration of the achievements of the academic year, during which the students were able to show off their talents and have fun.
One student, Jordan James, who hosted the event, said: “My favourite part was when I sang and danced to Justin Timberlake. It was great making new friends and dancing with my class mates.”

The show opened with a group performance singing and signing to Louis Armstrong’s ‘What a wonderful world’. This was followed by Jermaine Williams, singing the lead in ‘Oh happy day’ with a backing choir a la the well-known movie ‘Sister Act’.
Jermaine said: “Dancing on stage in front of everyone was great fun; I really enjoyed the whole performance.”

Group performance of ‘What a wonderful world’
Their teacher, Glyn Scoltock said: “As well as marking the end of the course and the college year, the show also provides an opportunity for our students to demonstrate what drama skills they have learned and how much new confidence it has given them in their abilities. The responses I have had from the students, apart from that they had fun while doing it, was that they were able to show other students something new about themselves.”
Several more performances followed in the 45-minute show and the students’ friends and families clearly enjoyed watching the great performances, as much as the students enjoyed taking part.
